THE STORY OF VALLEY CYCLERY

I'm Steve Ferris, the owner of Valley Cyclery in Pembroke, Ontario.

I'm retired from the military and have always been an avid cyclist.  I love riding bikes and have pedaled the entire Cape Breton Cabot Trail and also over 1200kms from my Pembroke home in the beautiful Ottawa Valley through to my other home in the equally picturesque Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia; hence the name VALLEY CYCLERY! 

I have been repairing my own bikes and friends' bikes for several years and found that my mechanical background with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) ties closely with the skill set used to diagnose and repair bicycles. I absolutely love working on bicycles but have never had formal training and decided to change this.  I started by taking a weekend Park Tool Bike Mechanics course and loved every minute of it.  I realized this wasn't enough and wanted to learn so much more so I decided to complete my formal Bicycle Mechanics Training at the Winterborne Bicycle Institute (WBI).  WBI runs an accredited College Bicycle Mechanics Course and are a member of the Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association.  I completed the intensive two week long course and graduated in 2021.  

I continue to upgrade my education regarding new technologies and bicycle repairs.  After my professional bicycle mechanics course at WBI, I have also completed all the modules that are part of the SHIMANO Technology Education + Certification (S-TEC) program.  My mission is to continue my education and provide all of my customers with top quality parts and repairs. I will always follow up with you within 2 weeks after servicing your bike to make sure you are 100% satisfied with the quality of work completed.
